Angel in Rome
Cloud Nine Creative Ambassador, Angel Montague-Sayers, flew out to Rome this month to spend two exciting days with Alexandro Magrin, top Rome stylist, and the Cloud Nine Italia Art Team. We caught up with Angel to find out what she got up to…
Rome, Italy: the home of romance, fashion and beauty. And where better to talk hair and styling? I arrived on the evening of Sunday 7th June, and was met at the airport by Alexandro Margrin, owner of Aria Capelli salons. At dinner, Alexandro was excited to discuss the ins and outs of the Italian hairdressing industry and to start planning our session. After an inspiring evening exploring the city and a good nights sleep, it was time to get our creative heads on.
Monday began with an early start. Alessandro took me to his salon in Aprilia, where his team greeted us. He wanted his team to be refreshed in a variety of skills; everything from basic styling to trend-based hairstyles, so after a short introduction and a presentation about the products, we started the training.
I began the training with a ‘look and learn’ technique. Using a live model and our Cloud Nine Waving Wand, I created the ‘New Wave’ style explaining the process as the art team stylists observed. The art team then worked on live models to re-create the look, producing fresh, Italian interpretations of classic styles.
Over the two days we covered many different looks from ‘Fauxhawk’ to the ‘Deconstructed Braid’ and ‘The Bouffant Beehive’ to ‘The Fairytale Bride’. The stylists used a range of our products including The O; our innovative and award winning heated roller pod.
We were joined at the training by Loriano Cuccoli, Managing Director of Cloud Nine Italia. We were also joined by Cloud Nine Italia’s Peggy Ickenroth and Natale Battaglia. The standard of styling produced during the sessions was incredibly impressive – I loved watching how the stylists adapted the looks I’d taught them into something that would suit their Italian clients too!
Witnessing these stylists at work was a great experience, as well as visiting Rome itself. On top of visiting the Colosseum, stuffing ourselves with pasta and gelato and taking in the beautiful architecture of Rome, we had some great salon sessions over the two days. I can’t wait to go back!
