Cannes: Get the A-List Look

Nothing says glamour and glitz quite like the annual Cannes Film Festival. With the glimmering Mediterranean serving as an idyllic backdrop, and gorgeous golden sunlight lighting up the red carpet, it comes as no surprise that celebrities flock to the French Riviera.

Here to help guide you through the most lavish film festival of the year is our UK Creative Ambassador Angel Montague-Sayers…

Emma Stone

Emma Stone earned herself many envious glances at the Irrational Man photocall, wearing her gorgeous red hair in an elegant yet loose, side-swept chignon. This style is great for anyone with a LOB as you don’t need loads of length.

Here is my guide to help you recreate this look...

  • Begin by applying some strong hold mousse into your hair and blast-dry this in.
  • Then create some loose texture in the hair using your Cloud Nine Waving Wand; wrap small sections around the barrel and scrunch to set in place.
  • Continue this until all the hair is waved, then tip you hair upside down and shake the hair. (Top tip: Shake some texturising power through the hair to create a gritty, lived-in texture).
  • Establish a side parting with a tail comb, then gather your hair to a point at the nape of your neck. Twist the length of your hair up into your nape and pin in place.
  • Use your fingers to gently pull out a few piece around the hairline to soften the shape.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron showcased true Hollywood Glamour at the Mad Max premiere. Her golden blonde bobbed hair was brushed into a deep, side parting then pulled into a neat bun at the nape. The front fringe section was waved, for a striking and stylish finish.

Here is my guide to help you recreate this look...

  • Begin by establishing a low side parting from the arch in your brow to the crown of your head. (Top tip: This is the most flattering point to wear a side parting).
  • Apply some hair mousse and a little hair oil to the ends of your hair and blow-dry in.
  • Separate a section of the hair on the right side, from the crown down to the front of your ear, and put to one side.
  • Using a Cloud Nine Dressing Brush and some hairspray, spray and brush your hair into a point at the nape of the neck.
  • Twist the mid-lengths and ends into a neat low chignon and secure with grips and pins. Flatten any stray hairs using the point of your pintail comb and some more hairspray.
Once this is secure, move onto the front section.
  • Using a Cloud Nine Original Wand, divide the front piece of hair into further sections and wrap these around the barrel, ensuring the wand is placed behind each section so that curls all follow the same direction.
  • Scrunch each curl into the palm of your hand as you go along so that they set in place while cooling.

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller, whose hair was recently cropped into a jaw-skimming bob, looked like a true English Rose at the Jury photocall. Her neat and chic bob was ‘flicked’ at the ends and volume was introduced to the roots, making it look both elegant and ultra effortless.

Here is my guide to help you recreate this look...

  • To create this look, begin by applying some mousse or volume spray to freshly washed or damp hair.
  • Using your Cloud Nine Blow Dry Boar Bristle Brush, separate the hair into small sections and blow-dry to boost volume.
  • Create a low side parting and blow-dry the front sections away from the hairline.
  • Once dry, place the 40mm O rollers onto of the ends of the sectioned hair and roll up. Clip the rollers in place to help them stay put and leave to cool.
  • Remove the rollers and spray with hairspray to set in place.
