Charlotte Olympia LFW SS17

Our second sponsored show of the day was the fabulous Charlotte Olympia! Legendary stylist Sam McKnight created screen siren waves backstage at Charlotte Olympia.

The ‘Let’s Go Bananas’ collection called for a Broadway take on beauty. His hair muse gang included Jean Harlow, Carmen Miranda and Katharine Hepburn.

“This is different takes on Hollywood hair and texture is key to each style,” says Sam McKnight.  “Think 30s set waves with shine to 40s undone curls with day-old texture.”

Using Cloud Nine and Batiste Stylist , here’s how to recreate the 30s Hollywood set wave:

  1. Prep with mousse for hold and blow-dry with Cloud Nine The Airshot Hairdryer using a large, round brush to smooth in preparation for the rollers.

  2. Once hair’s fully dry, take hair in small sections and use Cloud Nine The O heated rollers, starting at the crown and working your way forward. Aim for five-six rollers each side and seven through the middle.

  3. Remove rollers once completely cool. Use a spritz of Batiste Stylist Hydrate Me Oil Mist on fingers to prevent any fluffiness and smooth the curls.

  4. Use a very light mist of Batiste Stylist Hold Me Hairspray and brush the hair back on itself so it naturally falls into a wave.

  5. Section the hair into three, roll each section up into the nape of the neck and secure with strong grips so it resembles a faux bob. Finish with a light mist of Batiste Stylist Hydrate Me Oil Mist for extra gloss.
