Cloud Nine Takes South Africa
We have been busy taking the Cloud Nine brand to new corners of the globe again, this time jetting to stunning South Africa to launch our educational salon sessions and deliver our brand message to an exciting new audience.
After visiting Rome in June to introduce our salon session to top hairdresser Alessandro Magrin and his team, we have been keen to raise further awareness of the Cloud Nine brand and share our styling tips with more new faces, especially as Cloud Nine becomes more recognised internationally.
Travelling to Cape Town and Johannesburg this time were Cloud Nine’s Managing Director, Martin Rae, Global Support Manager, Becky Shaw and our UK Creative Ambassador, Angel Montague-Sayers. Once there, the guys met with our new distributor in SA, Modern Hair & Beauty, who also distribute a number of other well-known hair brands including Wella, Sebastian Professional and Nioxin. So we knew we were in good company!
The days spent in South Africa were packed full of sharing insight into the Cloud Nine brand history, talking about our epic new “No Rules” brand campaign and introducing the stylists to all of our tools, along with demonstrations from Angel on how these tools can be used. Angel also got to show the stylists some of our favourite key looks from 2014 and 2015 that can be created with our expert tool range, including the edgy Fauxhawk and the Unruly Wave.
Everyone in attendance at the salon sessions in Cape Town and Johannesburg was really keen to learn the styles - as you can see from the photos! Our sessions even caught the attention of journalist Jassy Mackenzie from Hairdressers Journal in Johannesburg, who stayed to watch and take notes for a feature in the magazine.
Whilst there, Becky, Martin and Angel were introduced to five new Cloud Nine Style Ambassadors from various salons in Cape Town, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng, who had been carefully selected by Modern Hair & Beauty’s Education Manager, Theresa Gouws, based on their enthusiasm for the art of hair styling and their understanding of the our brand. It was really interesting to see just how passionate these guys were about Cloud Nine and to watch how they picked up tips from Angel too, in order to truly embrace our Cloud Nine ethos. Theresa definitely chose well!
Although it was a very busy few days, Becky and Angel still grabbed the opportunity to see more of what SA has to offer. Before their early morning flight home on the Saturday, the ladies visited an elephant sanctuary with Theresa, which proved to be the perfect end to the trip. Ever the devoted stylist, Angel even got out her brush to use on the elephant’s hair!
It was a jam-packed five days and the trio travelled 12,902 miles in total, but it was certainly worth it to see how far our brand is growing. We can’t wait to see where Cloud Nine heads to next!
