Francesco Group Awards 2016

Eagerly anticipated each year, The Francesco Group Awards celebrate what's great about the hairdressing business. This year's awards were held at the ICC in Birmingham and it was the first time The Francesco Group had brought the Business and Photographic Awards together in over six years.

This year, we proudly sponsored the event. Each winner recieved a Cloud Nine goody bag, filled with fabulous Cloud Nine products! We caught up with Anya Dellicompagni, Director of Hairdressing, to find out more about the event and the sucess of The Francesco Group.

  • Can you tell us a little about The Francesco Group? When did you first start out?

Francesco Group was founded by my Uncle, Frank Dellicompagni in 1968 with one salon in the heartland of Stafford.  Salon numbers steadily grew and in the 1980's we began our franchising business which was the beginning of the modern day Francesco Group. Frank knew that stylists with a strong hairdressing education were key to the salon's success and set about running Apprenticeships within salons and opening our three Academies of Hairdressing Excellence which train over 300 students each year.

The business is still very much family run with my father, Peter as Chairman, Frank's son, Ben is Managing Director and daughter, Mia and I are Directors of Hairdressing. The family feeling is a strong force throughout the whole business and it's what makes the Francesco Group family great!

  • You’ve grown so quickly in the past few years, How many franchised salons do you now have?

We now have 39 Francesco Group Salons and 3 Hairdressing Academies across England.  Most recently we have launched Six Francesco Group salons in the South West of England with plans to expand further in the coming months.

  • What do the Francesco Group Awards celebrate?

The Francesco Group Awards celebrate what's great about our business. This year's Awards were held at the ICC in Birmingham on the 26th June 2016 and was the first time we had brought our Business and Photographic Awards together in over six years and we had a fantastic night. It was our best yet!

The Business Awards celebrates our business success from the previous year and pushes our salons to achieve better in the next.  Our Photographic Awards allows our stylists to compete creatively and showcase their skills. There is an education element involved for our Apprentices who enter as part of their qualification and prepares them for entering Industry competitions in the future.

  • How hard was the winners’ selection this year?

For our Business Awards, the winners are selected objectively through their figures and performance in the previous year.  This year, the Photographic Awards were judged independently by industry icons who were tasked to select the best images from a huge number of entries. It was very rewarding to see such a high standard of hairdressing within the group.

  • Many of your Salons use Cloud Nine Tools, do you have a favourite tool?

My favourite tool is the Cloud Nine Wand, it's amazing for adding texture to a style!
