Girls, this is not a drill. The Ouai, one of our fave haircare brands, have just launched a scalp and body scrub. We LOVE that scalp scrubs are becoming a thing – whilst there are endless products out there for hair, scalp-care is the child at the party that no one wants to talk to – sat in a corner and forgotten. There are so, SO many products that focus on adding shine to your hair, volumizing your hair and strengthening your hair, but very few that provide a little TLC for your scalp. However, we’ll let you into a little secret – it’s impossible to achieve the healthiest of hair without a healthy scalp – and we’re going to explain why.

Like any other part of your body, your scalp is unique, sensitive and needs a little love and attention. As the home of hair follicles, and the area where hair growth occurs, the condition of your scalp has A LOT of impact on the condition of your hair.

Over time, both the use of products and infrequent washing means that the remnants of products and natural oils build up on the scalp. This isn’t ideal, as not only does it leave white flakes in your hair (often mistaken for dandruff), but it also weighs down your hair, making it dull and lifeless - no matter your efforts and money spent on all those ‘miracle’ products.

This is where scalp scrubs come in: they essentially exfoliate your scalp, removing any build-up, and allowing your hair to reach it’s full(bodied) potential. So, if you’ve been spending a fortune on potions to make your hair gleam, but haven’t seen the results you want, you might want to give scalp scrubs a try! Here are a few of our faves to fit all budgets and purse-strings.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub £15 - (click here to buy)
Not only is this scrub kind to your scalp, but it’s also kind to your purse-strings at £15 and is perfect for normal to oily scalps/hair.

Bumble and bumble Scalp Detox £25 - (click here to buy)
In the middle of the price range is this little gem – containing micellar, a cult ingredient in skincare at the moment. It’s less of a scrub, and more of a foam, which means that it’s not only ah-mazing at cleansing the scalp, but also feels tingly and all kinds of incredible during use, due to the millions of micro-bubbles!

IGK Hair Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub £31 - (click here to buy)
Packed full of natural ingredients, this scalp scrub is suitable for even the most sensitive of scalps, helping to remove impurities and build-up, whilst strengthening and soothing – just what the (hair)doctor ordered!

The Ouai Scalp and Body Scrub £34.50 - (click here to buy)
This one is a multi-tasker. In case this isn’t enough to persuade already, not only does this remove build-up and exfoliate, but it’s also perfect for dry scalps due to its moisturising properties!

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea £39 - (click here to buy)
For those of you that suffer from oily hair (girl, I feel you), this one is perfect – because, as we believe here at Cloud Nine, everyone’s hair is unique, and deserves the right, personalised treatment.
