Clarifying shampoos

If your hair feels like it could use a little love, a clarifying shampoo is a must-have product to include in your hair care regime. Product buildup, clogged sebaceous glands, and excess oil can all lead to weighed-down locks lacking in shine.

A clarifying shampoo works as a deep cleanser to relieve your hair and scalp of residue, resulting in lighter, silkier strands.

Depending on your hair type, aim to use a clarifying product in place of your regular shampoo every week to once a month for the best results.

Scalp scrubs

Scalp care is a total game-changer for achieving healthy hair. And just like an exfoliator reveals radiant skin, a good scrub is essential for cleansing your scalp of dirt, dandruff, and dead skin cells.

This is because the sebaceous glands on your head are not too different from the pores on your face – they produce sebum to keep your hair in flawless condition. But if they get clogged, they can’t do their job properly. Scrubs ensure a balanced scalp where hair follicles flourish. The results? Optimised hair growth and maximum shine.

Apply a scalp scrub once every one to two weeks for your most elevated hair yet.

Detoxifying hair masks

Hair trends come and go, but DIY hair masks will always stand the test of time. From quenching the thirst of dehydrated strands to lifting built-up styling products from weighed-down tresses, detoxifying masks are one of the most effective ways to revitalise your hair.

And the best part is that they’re super cheap to make. Experiment with different ingredients that suit your needs and reap the benefits every week.

Silk pillowcases

Why have cotton when you can have silk? Aside from the luxurious feel, silk pillowcases have a host of hair benefits.

Porous cotton produces friction and removes moisture from your locks, whereas silk’s fluid feel is far smoother on the hair. This means less frizz and breakages, and improved moisture retention.

Now you can offer your mane the TLC it deserves during the night-time hours, with one of CLOUD NINE’s Silk Pillowcases. As well as offering all the hair-enhancing benefits of 20 momme silk, they come in a range of colours so you can choose one that matches your style.

While they can indeed make a difference to damaged hair (especially if it’s prone to breakages) silk pillowcases should always be used alongside a detox-friendly hair care routine. That way, you can sleep easy knowing that you’re tackling your tangles from all sides.

Heat protectants

Hot take: being on a hair-health journey doesn’t mean you need to avoid heat completely. Just wise up to the impacts.

As well as turning down the heat on your stylers, a heat protectant is a surefire way to keep your strands in check. They pretty much do what they say on the tin (or in this case, the bottle) – working to protect hair and prevent further heat damage. Available in sprays, creams, or leave-in treatments, applying a generous layer of protectant before using a heated tool is like providing a shield for your strands.

Many heat protectant products have additional hair conditioning ingredients to show your locks some love. From reducing moisture loss to controlling pesky flyaways, no hair detox regime is complete without a quality heat protectant.

CLOUD NINE’s Magical Quick Dry Potion is the ultimate heat protectant for your precious tresses. In addition to its conditioning formula, it’s designed to speed up drying time, so your strands spend less time under heat and can continue to thrive with fewer flyaways. *Adds to cart*.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV)

Not just a healthy way to dress up your salads, apple cider vinegar is known for its natural hair-boosting benefits. That’s because it has a mildly acidic pH level which works to close the cuticles in your hair and lock in moisture.

What’s more, this kitchen staple is a powerful antimicrobial ingredient that cleanses buildup from the scalp to reduce irritation and promote hair growth.

So, if you want to revive the shine in your strands, banish dandruff, and control frizz – ACV is your new BFF.

For a deep-cleansing hair rinse: After shampooing your hair, mix 3-4 tablespoons of ACV with 400ml of water. Pour the solution over your head and massage it into your scalp. Let it do its thing for a minute or two, then rinse. Condition as normal for a gleaming finish.

Hair oils and serums

To keep your hair nourished between washes, hair oils and serums do more than just provide a delicious scent. The key is to use the two different products properly and choose a formula that fits your needs to ensure you reap the full benefits.

Hair oils are typically made up of a carrier oil such as jojoba, almond, or avocado. Many also contain a reviving essential oil for a little extra hair-loving goodness. The goal is to stimulate the scalp, lock in moisture, and promote healthy hair growth.

A serum, on the other hand, is a more lightweight product that acts as a protectant to the outer surface of your strands. The silicone feel is ideal for controlling frizz, preventing damage, and boosting shine.

Apply hair oils and serums sparingly and focus on the ends of your hair to avoid product buildup on the scalp.

Diffusers

For blow drying, diffusers are generally considered to be the most detox-friendly option. This is because the air is dispersed across a wider, less concentrated hair surface.

Always dry responsibly. Apply a liberal layer of heat protectant and work on the coolest setting for happier hair.

Check out the CLOUD NINE Airshot Diffuser – it disperses air carefully between your strands, eradicating frizz and providing mind-blowing volume, without having to turn up the temperature.

Straighteners

Temperature control = in. Temperature misuse = out.

The days of poor-quality straighteners designed solely for function and aesthetics are over. Hair styling tools are becoming more innovative and hair-health-focused than ever before.
