Some of the industries finest have been kind enough to give us exclusive interviews, with an intimate look at what makes them tick. Ky Wilson is on the spotlight this week and he is loving it ;)

Who are you?
ky’cut wilson, hairstylist at Electric Hairdressing in London. My motto is 'Make it your own, but never on your own'.
Which hairstyle gives you the most buzz to create?
The 1940’s wave! There are so many different variations of this and using all the Cloud Nine styling tools too. I just love how you can adapt it to any occasion being a red carpet event/wedding or a festival.
All these variations show technical skill, patience and attention to detail as you can see from the Summer Waves or the carefree airy Bridget Bardot bedhead feel to the Editorial Catwalk bouncing mane.
I just love making this bespoke to anyone with my Cloud Nine Wand as well as with my Cloud Nine Irons.
Do you have any memorable moment/client or event?
Sooo many to chose! From working backstage at the London Fashion Week to salon based work, but I'd have to say that working on Coldplay’s single video release ‘Charlie Brown’ was just amazing. They are top lads, producing great music.
I’ve been really lucky being surrounded by very talented and inspiring hairstylists throughout my short but accelerated career so far. I feel people only develop if everybody shares their talents and I really appreciate the time that was given to me each and every day - from hairstylists to my guests that sit in my chair. I have to say a huge thank you to the salon Daniel Gray Hairdressing and to my boss Daniel Gray and Nicola Tomlinson for great onward encouragement to further my career.
The L’Oreal Professionel Id Artist Team has been the best experience of my career so far. Working with outstanding talent made me raise my game and gave me the platform to really excel in this forward thinking industry.
What’s your top tip for a Summer 2012 hair?
I love the ‘end of day’ airy feel to hair.
To create this look, blow dry your hair without a nozzle and make sure you prep your hair correctly, I love using L’Oreal Professionnel play ball texture tonic and cocktail this with L’Oreal Professionnel Techni Art Pli.
Also, braiding your hair part dry and leaving it over night will create a textured subtle wave. If you can’t wait over night, braid a section of your hair dry, run the Cloud Nine straighteners over them and then let it to cool down. Again, make sure you prep the hair to keep the style in. This will make you feel in control!
This year I also got asked to help out with Adam Reed from Percy and Reed at Felder Felder - two sisters with legs higher than the models and amazing beach blonde hair. These two have the most amazing and well-executed garments.
Adam Reeds’ approach was creating beautiful modernised 1940's grunge wave, adapting it to any personality and model. This approach made every woman who was watching the Felder Show want this soft flowing hair.
What’s your favourite Cloud Nine tool?
The Wand without a doubt. There are so many different variations of what we can do with it. I love the different heat settings on it and the quick heat protection cover for when I'm rushing around. I’ve already given loads of examples of why I love it, just look above :D
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from all around me, but I ‘m always trying to work towards creating my own interpretation of things. Find your own style.
My motto is “Make it your own, but never on your own.” To elaborate a little on this, it just means I think it’s always better to share your experience with other people rather than keeping it all locked up inside.
Who are some of your celebrity clients?
Being where I live, Kendal, I don't have a lot of regular celebrities. I have been around this sort of clientele with all the opportunities I get. My advice is to be professional but obviously be yourself around these people and you'll get asked to work with them again.
I style the drummer from a from a band in the lakes; Wild Beasts. If hairdressing style could be expressed through music, they would be the sound to represent my style. Give them a listen and you'll understand what I mean.
What’s your best kept secret or favourite product?
I believe no one should have secrets so that everyone can develop and the industry can explode with passion and talent. My favourite product on hand everytime is L’Oreal Professional Techniart Pli.
Which celeb would you love to style and why?
Male - David Beckham, true male hair icon.
Female - Beyonce, one mean head of hair to control.
